BMW 5 Series GT 2009 - 2017
Summary
The 5 Series BMW is a car which has traditionally combined comfort, pedigree and performance. The 5 Series GT (Gran Turismo) does all of the above but, in the words of Spinal Tap, turns the volume up to eleven. Space and luxury are at a premium with this car without compromising in other areas. It is surprisingly agile and grips the road well considering its size. Most customers plumped for the 530d GT variant and it is a capable unit, delivering 0 - 100 kmph in approximately six seconds. The GT is still unmistakably a BMW. There is plenty of leg room and head room all round. The 440-litre capacity boot is quite useful and there is easy access thanks to the very clever hatchback-like boot opening. The swish fascia and clear digital dials make sure the driver is fully informed at all times. Specification levels are as you would expect, full leather and heated front seats and a panoramic sunroof are just two of the comprehensive list of standard features. Overall, the 5 Series GT is an unusually bold move from BMW and one which is sure to keep owners interested for many years.
