The X1 is BMW's premium compact SUV for people who might want a 1 Series but with the practicality of a larger car. It is easy to see why as this is a surprisingly versatile vehicle with a large boot that has no annoying boot lip and some easily foldable split rear seats. There is plenty of head and leg room for driver and passenger alike and a decent driving position thanks to the multiple adjustment offered in the front seat and steering wheel. There is also a decent level of standard equipment which includes anti-skid control, air conditioning and rear parking sensors. Available in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, either variant will offer excellent b-road driving capabilities while also performing admirably as a motorway cruiser.
