Summary
The fifth generation Clio may appear to be indistinguishable to the old model but it is entirely new. It does have a sharper, classier design and it's the same story inside where minimalist yet fun is the order of the day. It feels of a higher quality too with lots of nice soft-touch plastics adorning the cabin. There is a decent level of standard equipment that includes a touchscreen infotainment screen, 16 inch alloy wheels and cruise control. Space in the front is generous while space in the rear is about on par with rivals such as the Fiesta or 208. Boot space is excellent and actually more than in the equivalent VW Golf. The 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder engines are well-tested and highly regarded as is the 1.3 litre petrol and the 1.5 litre diesel variant which offers excellent economy. The driving experience is quiet, refined and generally very enjoyable for driver and passengers alike. The supermini to beat in 2020.
