2018 Volkswagen Passat

Through several decades of production now, the Passat has remained one of VW's best-selling cars. It has been steadily improved over eight generations to become the most popular saloon on the Irish market. VW claim this generation is the best one yet. It certainly does not disappoint in the practicality stakes as there is acres of space. There are a massive 586 litres of space in the boot and this can be further expanded by folding the split rear seats. The interior overall as well thought out and ergonomically excellent. There is a decent level of standard equipment that includes air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and a touchscreen multimedia system as standard. There is an excellent range of highly regarded VW engines on offer including the sought after 1.6 TDI which found particular favour with Irish buyers thanks to its frugal economy figures and low tax band.
