Summary
The VW Up! has in its short lifespan become everything the small city car should aspire to. It's cute, cheap to run and green. It is surprisingly practical too with the cars boxy shape giving you plenty of headroom. The Up! is a prime example of big car comfort arriving in a neat package. There is a decent level of standard equipment that includes Bluetooth connectivity, automatic headlights and enough safety tech to warrant the Up! earning a five-star NCAP safety rating. The 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine is surprisingly refined, coming in 65, 70 or 90bhp variants. It is as economical as it looks with a claimed fuel economy figure of up to 70 miles per gallon and a road tax figure of just 190 euro per annum. Everything a city car should be.
