A limited-run homologation special of BMW’s 2006 world touring car. Finished in Le Mans Blue a mere 2600 cars where made available worldwide, with only 500 right hand drive sold in the UK and a handful making their way to Ireland. As of 2021 there are said to only be 196 cars still on the road in the UK. Under the bonnet is a hand-built 2.0-litre N45 inline-four developed for the E90 FIA World Touring Car, producing up to 173hp at 7,000rpm, and driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. It was engineered to rev higher; the bore is up by 1mm to 85mm and the stroke down by 2mm, to 88mm, while the induction and exhaust valves are all bigger, too. The compression ratio is up from 10.5:1 to 11.0:1, cylinder liners are aluminium alloy rather than cast iron, and there’s no Valvetronic induction system. The cylinder head was cast alongside BMW’s F1 engines. - Its visual highlight is the carbon-fibre cam cover.
